Barcelona have 12 players on their transfer list this summer
The season isn’t over yet, but Barcelona have been working on their summer transfer plans for some time already.
The Catalan club know who they plan to bring in, with Lautaro Martinez being their main target, but they know that selling players won’t be easy.
Moving players on won’t just be beneficial for the club’s finances, but it will help clear the squad of any players the club don’t have confidence in.
Some players aren’t currently in Quique Setien‘s plans in the first team, while there are others set to return from loan spells elsewhere.
Barcelona have a total of 12 players on the transfer list this summer – enough to form an entire team.
They are Neto, Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti, Junior Firpo, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite, plus the returning Carles Alena, Rafinha Alcantara, Jean-Clair Todibo and Philippe Coutinho.
In an ideal world, Barcelona would sell all of these players in exchange for cash, which would solve the club’s economic problems.
Not only would it boost the Blaugrana’s finances, it would allow them to buy players with the knowledge that their financial future is somewhat secure.
For example, it would give Barcelona the money to fund a move for Lautaro, who Inter are demanding a high offer for.
However, Barcelona know that this ideal scenario is nothing more than a dream and that selling all 12 of these players isn’t going to be possible in one transfer window.
Swap deals could be key
Including these transfer listed players in negotiations to sign new players could be a solution for Barcelona as they look to bring in new players this summer.
This strategy will be key in a move for Lautaro, with Barcelona confident that, if they include players in a transfer offer, Inter would be more likely to accept a deal.
The most difficult exits
Coutinho and Dembele’s big wages, let alone their transfer fees, make them very difficult players to get rid of.
Other than those two, it shouldn’t be too tricky to shift the likes of Semedo, Rakitic, Vidal, Rafinha and Tobido.
