Scholarships at the University of Western Ontario, Canada

Western Scholarship Program
To honor and recognize the exceptional academic accomplishments of our new senior high schoolers, Western offers the following admissions scholarships:
Western Scholarship of Excellence
The value of the award The amount of the award is $8000. each ($6,000 for the first year, plus $2,000 to fund the option of a study abroad trip.)
Average Required: The highest average for high school admission.
Western Scholarship of Distinction
Value of Award: $3500 each ($2,500 in the first year, plus $1,000 for an optional study abroad). Unlimited number.
Average required: Final admission average of 92.0 percent to 100.0 percent.
Western Admission Scholarship
Value of Award: $2,500 per year ($1,500 in the first year, plus $1,000 for an optional study abroad). Unlimited number.
Average Required: Final admissions average of 90.0 percent to 91.9 percent.

National Scholarship Program
National Scholarships are intended to acknowledge excellence in all aspects. They are given on the basis of exceptional academic achievement to students who show inventive and creative thinking as well as an interest in learning. National Scholarships also honor outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities such as sports and the arts. The emphasis is placed on the candidate’s dedication to the community through continuous involvement in the community and school life.
President’s Entrance Scholarships
One at $70,000 ($25,000 in the first year 15,000 for year one, $15,000 annually for years 2 to 4)
4. $65,000 ($20,000 in year one and $15,000 per year for the years 2 to 4) and
As high as 15 at $50,000 ($20,000 in the first year and $10,000 per year for the next two years)
Beryl Ivey, a Continuing Entrance Scholarship
One at $72,000; payable an annual sum of $18,000 over the duration of four years.
IPE Scholarships for International Students
3. At 3 at $50,000 ($20,000 in the first year each year, and $10,000 for years two through four)
Faculty Entrance Scholarships
Up to 15 times $30,000 ($12,000 in year one and $6,000 per year for years two through four)
National Scholarship Study Abroad Awards
Up to 39 for $2,500 for up to four months (one term) and $5,000 for more than four months (more than one time)
National Merit Awards
Students who are being considered for the chance to be considered for a National Scholarship but not offered the National Scholarship or a Schulich Leader Scholarship, and who accept an admission offer at the school’s main campus, will be awarded an award of one year National Merit Award valued at $2,000. The recipients will also be eligible to receive an Admission Scholarship with a value ranging between $2,500 and $8,000.

Medical & Dentistry Schulich Scholarships
Schulich Scholarships are given to students who are entering the first semester of both the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program as well as the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program, based on academic performance and financial need. These scholarships can be renewed for a maximum of four years, provided that the students progress in a positive manner and continue to show financial need every year.
The scholarships were created in the name of Seymour Schulich to help ensure that students who wish to attend the Western’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) programs receive the financial support they require.
A total of $112,000.
The amount is $28,000 for the academic year that continues, provided that recipients are able to make progress in their studies and demonstrate financial need every year. Receiptees will be provided with renewal information every spring and summer.
The amount of scholarships offered varies every year.
